Pregnant and Eating
Just because I haven't posted in a while, and I feel obligated to
I went to a baby shower on Saturday. The mother is WASP from Minnesota, and the father is Tanzanian. Thank goodness his relatives brought some food, though the other food was good as well. My current pregnancy has been challenging in that most food is not appetizing. There was an extremely flavorful rice with what looked like potatoes, some type of meat, and some inedible seed. It was quite good. On the dining room table was a type of flatbread with a leg of what looked to me like goat. I was grateful to learn that it was lamb. I requested that some be carved, and a Tanzanian gentleman did so. I was a bit disrespectful in that I did not remove my plate until I felt that he'd given me enough. I simply could not help myself, and this earned me a startled look. Needless to say I ate to my heart's content, and I literally dreamt of that African food all night!
